The Phuket Mining Museum documents three centuries of tin mining that transformed the island from a jungle-covered outpost into one of the wealthiest provinces in Siam. Set in a purpose-built complex, it combines dioramas, artefacts, and a recreated tin mine tunnel.

Phuket Aquarium is operated by the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources on Cape Panwa, the island's southeastern tip. It houses over 150 species of marine life from the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, including sharks, sea turtles, and colourful reef fish.

Phuket Old Town is the cultural heart of the island, centred on Thalang, Dibuk, Phang Nga, and Krabi roads. Its colourful Sino-Portuguese shophouses — built by tin-mining magnates in the late 19th century — now house boutique cafés, galleries, and guesthouses.

The Gibbon Rehabilitation Project (GRP) is a volunteer-run conservation centre at the entrance to Khao Phra Thaeo National Park. It rehabilitates white-handed gibbons confiscated from the illegal pet trade, with the goal of releasing them back into the wild.

Phuket's Old Town hosts a growing collection of over 20 large-scale murals, created as part of community art projects and the Phuket Old Town Festival. The works depict local history, daily life, and cultural themes across building façades and alleyway walls.

Rang Hill (Khao Rang) is a forested hilltop park in the heart of Phuket Town, offering a peaceful escape with views over the old town rooftops to the eastern coastline and distant islands. A fitness trail winds through tropical greenery to the summit.

The Similan Islands are a group of nine granite islands in the Andaman Sea, about 84 km northwest of Phuket. Renowned for crystal-clear water, pristine coral reefs, and giant underwater boulders, they are consistently rated among the world's top 10 dive sites.

Patong is Phuket's largest, busiest, and most developed beach — a 3.5-kilometre crescent of coarse golden sand facing the Andaman Sea. It serves as the island's tourism epicentre, backed by a dense strip of hotels, shopping centres, and the famous Bangla Road nightlife area.

This self-guided walking route covers the finest concentration of Sino-Portuguese architecture in Thailand, centred on Thalang Road, Dibuk Road, Phang Nga Road, and Soi Romanee. The pastel-painted shophouses blend Hokkien Chinese, Malay, and European colonial design elements.

The Big Buddha is a 45-metre-tall Maravija Buddha statue perched atop Nakkerd Hill at 400 metres elevation, visible from much of southern Phuket. Clad in white Burmese marble, it is one of the island's most recognisable landmarks and an active construction site that has been under development since 2004.

Phuket Elephant Sanctuary is an ethical, no-ride rescue facility in the hills behind Paklok. Retired elephants rescued from logging and tourism camps roam freely across 30 acres of grassland and forest, observed by visitors from elevated walkways.

Windmill Viewpoint (Ya Nui Viewpoint) is a scenic lookout on the headland between Nai Harn and Promthep Cape, marked by a single wind turbine. It offers elevated views of Ya Nui Beach, Nai Harn Beach, and the offshore islets.

Sirinat National Park protects 90 square kilometres of Phuket's northwest coastline, encompassing mangrove forests, coral reefs, and three beaches — Nai Thon, Nai Yang, and Mai Khao. Mai Khao, at 11 km, is the longest beach on the island and a nesting site for Olive Ridley sea turtles.

Thalang National Museum is a small national museum opposite the Heroine's Monument, covering the history of Phuket and the Andaman coast from prehistoric times to the modern era, with particular focus on the 1785 Thalang defence against Burmese invasion.

Kata Beach is a 1.5-kilometre arc of fine white sand divided by a rocky headland into Kata Yai (big) and Kata Noi (small). Quieter and more family-oriented than Patong, it combines good swimming, surfing, and a relaxed village atmosphere.

Karon Beach stretches over 3 kilometres of wide, squeaky-sand shoreline — named for the quartz crystals that squeak underfoot when dry. It is far less developed than neighbouring Patong, offering a more relaxed seaside experience.

Surin Beach is a 700-metre strip of caramel-coloured sand set between granite headlands on Phuket's upscale west coast. Long associated with beach clubs and luxury resorts, it offers a more refined atmosphere than Patong while maintaining natural beauty.

Khao Phra Thaeo Royal Wildlife and Forest Reserve protects Phuket's last virgin lowland rainforest — 2,235 hectares of dense jungle in the island's northeast interior. It includes two waterfalls, a gibbon rehabilitation centre, and trails through old-growth forest.

Sarasin Bridge is the original road bridge connecting Phuket Island to mainland Phang Nga Province across a narrow strait. Completed in 1967, it was replaced by a newer bridge for vehicle traffic and now serves as a pedestrian walkway and scenic viewpoint.

Phuket FantaSea is a cultural theme park and dinner-show complex in Kamala, billing itself as the ultimate Thai cultural show. The centrepiece is the Palace of the Elephants theatre, seating 3,000, which hosts a Las Vegas-style spectacular blending acrobatics, pyrotechnics, and live elephants.
