Attractions in Malmö

Turning Torso is a 190-metre neo-futurist residential skyscraper in the Västra Hamnen district, designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. Completed in 2005, it is Scandinavia's tallest building and has become Malmö's most recognizable landmark.

Malmö Opera och Musikteater is the largest opera stage in Scandinavia, housed in a 1944 functionalist building by architects Sigurd Lewerentz, Erik Lallerstedt, and David Helldén. It stages opera, musicals, and ballet year-round.

Malmö Central Station (Malmö Centralstation) is the city's main railway hub, blending its original 1856 red-brick station building with a modern glass and steel terminal added for the Citytunneln in 2010.

Sankt Petri Kyrka (St. Peter's Church) is the oldest building in Malmö, a 14th-century Gothic brick church modeled on St. Mary's in Lübeck. Its distinctive twin towers and whitewashed interior make it one of southern Sweden's finest medieval churches.

Stortorget is Malmö's grand main square, laid out in the 1530s when the city was part of Denmark. Dominated by the Town Hall and an equestrian statue of King Karl X Gustav, it remains the ceremonial heart of the city.

Malmö's Town Hall (Rådhuset) has anchored Stortorget since 1546. Originally a Renaissance structure, it received a lavish Dutch Renaissance facelift in the 1860s. The building continues to serve as the city's administrative center.

Lilla Torg ("Little Square") is a cozy cobblestoned square in the heart of Malmö's old town, surrounded by charming 16th- to 18th-century half-timbered and brick buildings. It is the city's most popular outdoor gathering place.

Malmö Live is a striking modern concert hall, conference center, and hotel complex on the Hansa waterfront, completed in 2015. It is the home of the Malmö Symphony Orchestra (Malmö SymfoniOrkester).
