The Hokkaido Ainu Center (Pirika Kotan, meaning 'beautiful village' in Ainu) is a cultural facility dedicated to preserving and sharing the heritage of Hokkaido's indigenous Ainu people. The center features exhibitions on Ainu history, traditional clothing, and musical instruments, as well as live performances of traditional dance and song.

Jozankei Onsen is a hot spring resort valley located 26 km southwest of central Sapporo along the Toyohira River gorge. With over 50 hot spring sources feeding hotels and public bathhouses, it is one of Hokkaido's most accessible onsen destinations. The valley is renowned for its autumn foliage (mid-October) and the Kappa legends woven into the town's identity.

Hokkaido University's main campus covers 177 hectares in northern central Sapporo, making it one of Japan's largest urban campuses. Visitors walk tree-lined avenues of Siberian elms, a famous row of ginkgo trees that turn golden in autumn, and a poplar-lined path that has appeared in countless Japanese films and photographs.

Sapporo Dome is a 41,000-seat enclosed stadium that hosted three group matches during the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Its engineering innovation — a 'hovering soccer stage' that moves the natural grass pitch in and out of the dome — allows year-round use for football and baseball. The venue offers guided dome tours when no events are scheduled.

The Sapporo Beer Museum is Japan's only museum dedicated to beer, housed in the 1890 red-brick Kaitakushi Brewery building. It traces the history of Japanese brewing from the Meiji era through interactive exhibits, archival photographs, and original brewing equipment. The museum itself is free, with an optional paid tasting lounge.

The Sapporo Snow Festival (Yuki Matsuri) is held annually in early February across three venues, with the Odori Park site as the main stage. Over 200 snow and ice sculptures — some reaching 15 meters tall — are displayed along the 1.5 km park. The festival attracts approximately 2 million visitors and is one of Japan's largest winter events.

Odori Park is a 1.5 km green belt that divides Sapporo's downtown grid between the North and South districts. Running east–west from the Sapporo TV Tower to Sapporo District Court, the park serves as the main venue for the Sapporo Snow Festival (February), the Lilac Festival (May), and the Autumn Fest beer garden (September).

The Sapporo Olympic Museum sits at the base of the Okurayama Ski Jump and documents Sapporo's role as host of the 1972 Winter Olympics. Interactive exhibits include ski jump, bobsled, and speed skating simulators that let visitors experience winter sports firsthand. The museum also covers Japan's broader Olympic history.

Sapporo TV Tower is a 147.2-meter steel tower at the eastern end of Odori Park, built in 1957. Its observation deck at 90 meters provides panoramic views over the park's tree-lined stretch to the mountains beyond. The tower is especially popular at night when the illumination makes it a Sapporo landmark.

The Sapporo Clock Tower (Tokeidai) is a wooden structure built in 1878 as a drill hall for Sapporo Agricultural College, now Hokkaido University. It is one of the few remaining Western-style buildings from the Meiji era in Sapporo and houses a museum on the city's pioneering history. The Howard clock mechanism, installed in 1881, still rings every hour.

Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium is the large hill (K-90) venue built for the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics, still used for international FIS World Cup competitions. A chairlift carries visitors to the observation lounge at the top of the jump, providing one of the most dramatic viewpoints in Sapporo — a sweeping panorama from the mountains to the ocean.

Sapporo Beer Garden is a complex of large dining halls in the historic Kaitakushi Brewery buildings adjacent to the Sapporo Beer Museum. It is the most famous venue in Hokkaido for jingisukan — Genghis Khan-style grilled lamb eaten on dome-shaped iron plates alongside unlimited draft Sapporo beer.

The Hokkaido Museum (Hokkaido Hakubutsukan) provides a comprehensive overview of Hokkaido's natural history, indigenous Ainu culture, and the island's modern development. Five permanent exhibition zones trace the story from geological formation through Ice Age megafauna to contemporary Hokkaido life. The museum sits in Nopporo Forest Park alongside the Historical Village.

Hokkaido Jingu is the chief Shinto shrine of Hokkaido, established in 1869 to enshrine the guardian deities of the island's development. Set within the forested grounds of Maruyama Park, the shrine attracts over 700,000 visitors during hatsumode (New Year's prayers) and is a popular spot for cherry blossom viewing in May.

Shiroi Koibito Park is a chocolate-themed attraction operated by Ishiya, the confectionery company behind Hokkaido's iconic Shiroi Koibito (White Lover) cookies. The Tudor-style complex includes a chocolate factory tour, a hands-on workshop where visitors make their own cookies, and European-inspired gardens with seasonal events.

Susukino is Hokkaido's largest entertainment district, located south of Odori Park, with over 4,000 restaurants, bars, karaoke lounges, and nightclubs. The district's neon-lit streets are the heart of Sapporo's nightlife and also home to many of the city's best ramen shops, izakayas, and late-night eateries. During the Snow Festival, the Susukino site hosts the ice sculpture competition.

Moerenuma Park is a 189-hectare landscape park on a reclaimed waste disposal site, designed by Japanese-American sculptor Isamu Noguchi. The park's geometric hills, fountains, and play equipment function as massive sculptures integrated into the landscape. It represents Noguchi's lifelong vision of sculpting the earth itself.

The Former Hokkaido Government Office (Akarenga Chō-sha) is a Neo-Baroque red-brick building completed in 1888, modeled after Massachusetts State House. It served as Hokkaido's seat of government for 80 years and is now a free museum. The surrounding gardens are planted with 1,000 trees and are popular for cherry blossom and autumn foliage viewing.

The Historical Village of Hokkaido (Kaitaku no Mura) is an open-air museum preserving over 60 buildings from Hokkaido's Meiji and Taisho pioneer settlement era. The village is organized into four areas — Town, Farm, Mountain, and Fishing — each recreating the living and working conditions of different settler communities. In winter, visitors can ride horse-drawn sleighs through the snow-covered grounds.

Sapporo Teine is a ski resort on Mount Teine, just 40 minutes from downtown Sapporo by car. The mountain hosted the alpine, bobsled, and toboggan events during the 1972 Winter Olympics and today offers 15 courses across two zones: Highland (advanced, Olympic-grade runs) and Olympia (beginner and intermediate). Night skiing is available.
