Neighborhoods in Bergen

Nordnes is a historic peninsula neighbourhood stretching west from the city centre between Vågen harbour and Puddefjorden. Its narrow lanes, wooden houses, and waterfront parks make it one of Bergen's most walkable and atmospheric districts.

Sandviken is a charming residential neighbourhood north of Bryggen, known for its rows of colourful wooden houses climbing the hillside above the harbour. Quieter and more local than the tourist-heavy city centre, it offers a glimpse of authentic Bergen life.

Skostredet is Bergen's creative quarter, a narrow street and surrounding lanes just south of the harbour packed with independent boutiques, design studios, vintage shops, and specialty cafés. It has become the go-to neighbourhood for emerging Norwegian design and street art.
