Nordnes is a historic peninsula neighbourhood stretching west from the city centre between Vågen harbour and Puddefjorden. Its narrow lanes, wooden houses, and waterfront parks make it one of Bergen's most walkable and atmospheric districts.
Nordnes has been settled since the Middle Ages and housed Bergen's hospital, military barracks, and maritime activities. Though many buildings were destroyed in the great fire of 1916, the neighbourhood was rebuilt and retains a cohesive early-20th-century character.
