Beaches in Langkawi

Tanjung Rhu is widely regarded as Langkawi's most beautiful beach — a pristine crescent of powdery white sand on the island's northeastern tip, backed by towering casuarina (rhu) trees and flanked by dramatic limestone formations. The shallow, crystal-clear water and remote setting make it far quieter than the west coast beaches.

Pantai Tengah is the quieter, more upscale sibling of Pantai Cenang, separated by a rocky headland. Its smooth sand, sheltered bay, and calm turquoise waters make it a favourite with resort guests and couples seeking a more relaxed beach experience.

Datai Bay is a secluded crescent of white sand on Langkawi's northwestern coast, consistently ranked among the world's best beaches by travel publications. Backed by 10-million-year-old rainforest and accessible only through luxury resort gates, it offers an exclusive, pristine tropical experience.

Pantai Pasir Tengkorak (Skull Sand Beach) is a hidden public beach on Langkawi's remote northern coast, known for its crystal-clear water, volcanic rock formations, and peaceful atmosphere. Part of the Machinchang Cambrian Geoforest Park, it combines geological interest with excellent snorkelling.

Pantai Cenang is Langkawi's busiest and most popular beach, a 2-kilometre stretch of white sand on the island's southwest coast. It's the social hub of the island, lined with restaurants, water sports operators, duty-free shops, and beach bars — Langkawi's answer to a tropical boardwalk.

Pantai Kok is a scenic crescent bay on Langkawi's western coast, nestled between forested hills near the Oriental Village cable car station. Its calm, shallow waters and mountain backdrop make it a favourite for kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding.
