Sengokuhara is a peaceful highland plateau on the northern side of the Hakone caldera, home to world-class art museums, golden pampas grass fields, and secluded ryokan far from Hakone's busier lakeside areas.

Gora is a hillside resort district centered around the terminus of the Hakone Tozan Railway. It is the cultural hub of Hakone, with major museums, a French-inspired park, and some of the region's best ryokan clustered along its steep, winding streets.

The Hakone-Yumoto District is the bustling entry point to the Hakone region, where the Hakone Tozan Railway begins its mountain ascent. Traditional ryokan line the Hayakawa River, small shops sell local crafts and snacks, and free foot baths steam beside the roadside.

Moto-Hakone is a small lakeside village on the southeastern shore of Lake Ashi, serving as the historic heart of the Hakone lake area. The iconic lakeside torii gate, cedar-lined paths, and traditional atmosphere make it feel suspended in time.
