Boccadasse is a tiny, picturesque fishing village tucked into a cove at the eastern end of Genoa's Corso Italia seafront promenade. Its cluster of pastel-coloured houses, a small pebbly beach, and traditional gelaterias make it feel like stepping into a postcard of the old Ligurian Riviera.

Genoa's Centro Storico is the largest medieval historic centre in Europe, a dense labyrinth of narrow alleys (caruggi) that once housed sailors, merchants, and aristocrats side by side. Stretching from the port to the hills, it contains an astonishing concentration of medieval towers, baroque churches, and hidden palaces.

Porto Antico is Genoa's revitalised Old Port, transformed by Renzo Piano for the 1992 Columbian Expo from derelict docks into the city's vibrant waterfront district. Today it houses the Aquarium, the Biosfera, museums, cinemas, a swimming pool, an ice rink, and bustling restaurants.
