Attractions in Mykonos

Delos is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important archaeological sites in the Mediterranean. This small, uninhabited island — a 30-minute boat ride from Mykonos — was the mythological birthplace of Apollo and Artemis and the religious heart of the ancient Greek world.

The iconic row of whitewashed windmills perched on the low hill above Little Venice is Mykonos's defining silhouette. Built by the Venetians in the 16th century, they once ground grain shipped from across the Cyclades.

The Old Port is the original harbour of Mykonos Town — a picturesque crescent dotted with colourful wooden fishing boats (caïques), seafood tavernas, and the departure piers for the short ferry to Delos.

The Monastery of Panagia Tourliani is a striking 16th-century whitewashed complex in the heart of Ano Mera village, featuring an ornate marble entrance fountain, a Florentine baroque iconostasis, and a peaceful courtyard.

Panagia Paraportiani is a stunning whitewashed church complex on the edge of Kastro in Mykonos Town — one of the most photographed churches in the world. Its flowing, asymmetric form resembles a sculpted snowdrift.

The Monastery of Paleokastro (Our Lady of the Old Castle) sits on a hilltop east of Ano Mera, offering sweeping views over the island's interior and the eastern Aegean. The small 18th-century complex houses a revered icon of the Virgin Mary.
