The Monastery of Panagia Tourliani is a striking 16th-century whitewashed complex in the heart of Ano Mera village, featuring an ornate marble entrance fountain, a Florentine baroque iconostasis, and a peaceful courtyard.
Founded in 1542 by monks from the Monastery of Kechrovouni on Tinos, the monastery was built around a miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary discovered near a spring. The present buildings largely date from the 18th century, when the Florentine iconostasis was installed.
