The Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden is the first full-scale classical Chinese garden built outside China. Located in Vancouver's Chinatown, it was constructed in 1986 by 52 master artisans from Suzhou using traditional materials and methods, without a single nail, bolt, or screw.

Pacific Spirit Regional Park is an 874-hectare forest park bordering UBC, offering 73 kilometres of trails through second-growth coastal rainforest, bogs, and foreshore. It provides a wilderness experience minutes from downtown.
