Stanley Park is a 405-hectare urban park on a peninsula in Vancouver's West End, nearly surrounded by English Bay and Burrard Inlet. It is one of the largest urban parks in North America—20% larger than Central Park—blending old-growth coastal rainforest with gardens, beaches, and cultural attractions.
Named after Lord Stanley, who dedicated it in 1888, the park occupies traditional Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh territory. Its old-growth western red cedar and Douglas fir trees are 300–500 years old. A devastating 2006 windstorm toppled 10,000 trees.
