Parks in Kathmandu

Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park protects the forested hills on Kathmandu's northern rim, providing the city's main water supply and a wilderness escape just 12 km from the center. The park reaches 2,732 meters at Shivapuri Peak.

The Garden of Dreams is a neo-classical European-style garden tucked behind a high wall in central Kathmandu, just steps from Thamel. This beautifully restored pocket of tranquility features pavilions, pergolas, ponds, and manicured flowerbeds.

Taudaha is a small natural lake on the southern outskirts of the Kathmandu Valley, steeped in mythology. According to legend, it is the last remnant of the primordial lake that once filled the entire valley, and the serpent king Karshota dwells in its depths.

Ratna Park is a green oasis in the center of Kathmandu, offering locals and visitors a respite from the city's bustle. Located near New Road and the main bus station, it is a popular gathering spot with tree-lined paths and open lawns.

Balaju Water Garden is a historic garden on the northern edge of Kathmandu featuring a row of 22 carved stone water spouts (hiti) and a reclining Vishnu statue. It is a popular local recreation spot with swimming pools and landscaped grounds.
