The Montes de Málaga Natural Park is a 5,000-hectare protected area of Mediterranean forest and pine-covered hills just 5 km north of the city. It offers hiking trails, birdwatching, and cool respite from the coastal heat.

The Parque de Málaga (Paseo del Parque) is a palm-lined subtropical promenade running 800 metres between the old town and the port. Planted with over 1,000 species of tropical trees and plants, it functions as an open-air botanical garden.
