Jardín Botánico-Histórico La Concepción is a lush 19th-century tropical garden 5 km north of the city centre. Created by the Marquises of Casa Loring, its 23 hectares host over 2,000 tropical and subtropical plant species — one of the finest collections in Europe.
Founded in 1855 by Amalia Heredia Livermore and Jorge Loring Oyarzábal, the garden drew exotic species from their shipping empire routes. Acquired by Málaga City Council in 1990, it was declared a Historic-Artistic Garden.
