The Parque de Málaga (Paseo del Parque) is a palm-lined subtropical promenade running 800 metres between the old town and the port. Planted with over 1,000 species of tropical trees and plants, it functions as an open-air botanical garden.
Created in the late 19th century on land reclaimed from the sea during port expansion, the park was planted with exotic species arriving on merchant ships at the adjacent port.
