The Bukhara Museum of Fine Arts occupies a converted former Russian-era bank building and displays Uzbek fine art alongside decorative arts, suzani textiles, and Bukhara's famous gold-embroidered robes.
The building was constructed in the early 20th century as a branch of the Russian Imperial Bank. After the 1920 revolution, it was converted into a museum. The collection was assembled from private collections, mosques, and madrasas that were closed during the Soviet anti-religious campaigns.
