The Bukhara Gold-Embroidery Museum is dedicated to the city's renowned zarduzi tradition — the art of gold-thread embroidery that decorated the robes of emirs, khans, and wealthy merchants. Live demonstrations let visitors watch artisans stitch intricate metallic designs.
Gold embroidery (zarduzi) has been practiced in Bukhara for over 1,000 years. The craft reached its peak during the Emirate period (18th–19th centuries), when elaborately embroidered robes signified rank and status. The tradition nearly died during the Soviet era but has been revived since independence.
