Nai Harn Beach

Overview

Nai Harn is a sheltered, horseshoe-shaped beach in Phuket's far south, favoured by locals and long-term expats for its quieter atmosphere and beautiful setting beneath forested hills. Nai Harn Lake lies just behind the sand, adding to the scenic appeal.

• Swimming Lagoon: During calm season (November–April), the water is exceptionally clear and calm, with a gentle sandy bottom.
• Nai Harn Lake: A tranquil freshwater lagoon just behind the beach, popular for kayaking.

History

Nai Harn was originally a quiet anchorage used by yachts seeking shelter during monsoon. The establishment of the Royal Phuket Yacht Club (now The Nai Harn) in 1987 put the beach on the map without over-commercialising it.

Visitor Tips

• Parking: Free parking areas fill up quickly on weekends — arrive before 10:00.
• Sunset: Walk to Promthep Cape (10 min drive) for sunset, then return to Nai Harn for dinner.
• Duration: 2–3 hours.
