The Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House is one of the oldest residential structures in the Philippines, dating to the late 17th century. This well-preserved Chinese-Filipino heritage home in downtown Cebu showcases the domestic life of wealthy mestizo families during the Spanish colonial period, with original furnishings and religious artifacts.
The house was built by Chinese merchant Don Juan Yap around 1675 and later passed to the Sandiego family through marriage. It survived multiple earthquakes, typhoons, and World War II, making it one of the few remaining colonial-era residences in the Philippines. Restoration efforts in the 2000s preserved its original architectural character.
