Overview
Kawasan Falls is a multi-tiered waterfall in the municipality of Badian, southwestern Cebu, famous for its stunning turquoise-blue waters fed by natural springs from the Kanlaob River. It's one of the Philippines' most photographed waterfalls and the endpoint of the popular Badian canyoneering adventure.
Highlights
- Turquoise Pools: The calcium carbonate-rich spring water creates an extraordinarily vivid blue-green color in the cascading pools.
- Canyoneering Adventure: The full canyoneering experience includes cliff jumping, crawling through canyons, and rappelling down waterfalls.
- Bamboo Raft Ride: Visitors can take a bamboo raft directly under the main falls for a refreshing natural massage.
History
Kawasan Falls has been a local swimming spot for generations, but gained international fame in the 2010s as canyoneering tours brought adventure-seeking tourists to the area. The falls are part of a protected watershed area. The local barangay manages the site, with entrance fees supporting community programs and trail maintenance.
Visitor Tips
- Tip 1: The canyoneering tour (starting from Kanlaob River) takes 3–4 hours and ends at the falls — highly recommended for adventurous visitors.
- Tip 2: Bring water shoes and a dry bag; the trail and river crossing can be slippery.
- Duration: 3–4 hours (with canyoneering), 1–2 hours (falls only).
