The Cebu Provincial Capitol is an impressive Neoclassical government building on Escario Street, completed in 1938 during the American colonial period. With its grand columns, manicured oval grounds, and heritage architectural details, it's one of the finest examples of American-era civic architecture in the Philippines.
The capitol was designed by American architect Juan Arellano and completed in 1938 as the seat of the Cebu provincial government. It survived World War II largely intact, unlike many colonial buildings in Cebu, and was declared a National Historical Landmark. The building continues to serve as the working office of the governor of Cebu province.
