Grund Quarter
The Grund is Luxembourg City's most atmospheric quarter - a narrow riverside strip along the Alzette beneath the fortress cliffs. Once the working-class heart of the city, it is now a charming mix of cosy pubs, restaurants, boutique hotels, and the National Museum of Natural History.

Highlights
- Riverside Ambience: Terraces right on the water's edge, lit by golden light at dusk.
- Historic Houses: Colourful 17th- and 18th-century facades reflected in the Alzette.
- Nightlife (Mild): A handful of craft-beer pubs and wine bars with live music.
History
Historically home to tanners, dyers, and millers who needed the river, the Grund declined in the 20th century. Urban renewal from the 1990s onward restored its houses and introduced the cultural infrastructure it enjoys today.
