The Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art (Kinbi) showcases modern and contemporary artwork with a particular focus on artists from Hokkaido. The permanent collection includes works by Kinjiro Kida, Tamako Kataoka, and Eien Iwahashi, alongside rotating international exhibitions. The museum sits in a quiet residential area near Maruyama Park.
Opened in 1977 as Hokkaido's first modern art museum, the collection has grown to over 5,200 works. The building was designed by architect Yoshio Taniguchi and expanded in the 1990s to accommodate larger touring exhibitions.
