Overview
Liurong Pagoda (六榕花塔), the Flower Pagoda, is a 57-metre octagonal tower rising above the Temple of the Six Banyan Trees. Originally built in 537 AD and reconstructed in 1097, it is the tallest and oldest pagoda in Guangzhou.

History
The original pagoda was built during the Liang dynasty in 537 AD. The current structure dates primarily from a Northern Song reconstruction in 1097 (Shaosheng era) and has been repaired many times since.
Visitor Tips
- Climb: The interior staircase is narrow and steep; wear flat shoes.
- Entry: Small fee (¥10) to climb; temple admission is separate.
- Duration: 20–30 minutes.
