Overview
Baiyun Mountain (白云山) is a 382-metre forested ridge on Guangzhou's northern edge, nicknamed 'the lungs of the city.' Part of a sprawling 28-km² scenic area, it offers hiking trails, cable cars, and panoramic views of the Pearl River Delta.

History
Baiyun Mountain has been celebrated in poetry and painting since the Tang dynasty. Its name ('White Cloud') comes from the frequent mist that shrouds the peaks. It was designated a National Scenic Area in 1982.

- Cable Car: Runs from the south gate to the mountaintop; saves a 40-minute uphill walk.
- Best Season: Autumn (October–November) for clear skies and colourful foliage.
