Parks in Ulaanbaatar

Bogd Khan Mountain is a 2,256-metre sacred peak on the southern edge of Ulaanbaatar, legally protected since 1778 — making it one of the world's oldest nature reserves. Covered in larch and birch forest, it offers hiking within sight of the city.

Gorkhi-Terelj National Park is a vast protected wilderness 60 km east of Ulaanbaatar, offering alpine meadows, forested river valleys, granite rock formations, and traditional ger camps. It is the most accessible slice of quintessential Mongolian landscape from the capital.
