Museums in San Sebastián

Chillida Leku (Chillida's Place) is an open-air museum set in a 12-hectare beech forest on the outskirts of San Sebastián, dedicated to the monumental works of Eduardo Chillida. A restored 16th-century Basque farmhouse showcases smaller sculptures and works on paper.

San Telmo Museoa is the premier museum of Basque society and citizenship, housed in a beautifully restored 16th-century Dominican convent at the foot of Monte Urgull. A striking modern extension by Nieto Sobejano wraps around the historic cloister.

The Museo Naval (Naval Museum) occupies a historic building at the old port, documenting the Basque Country's deep maritime heritage — from medieval whaling and cod fishing to modern oceanography.

The Aquarium of San Sebastián sits at the harbour end of Monte Urgull and is the oldest aquarium in Spain, fully renovated with a 360° underwater tunnel showcasing Atlantic and tropical marine species.
