Schwabing is Munich's bohemian and intellectual quarter, where Kandinsky lived and the literary cabaret scene flourished in the early 1900s. Today it blends leafy Jugendstil streets with boutiques, cafés, and buzzy Leopoldstraße nightlife.

Maxvorstadt is Munich's university and museum quarter—a grid of 19th-century boulevards packed with the Pinakotheks, the Lenbachhaus, bookshops, and student cafés. It's where academia and high culture intersect with lively street life.

Munich's Altstadt (Old Town) is the compact medieval core enclosed by the former city walls, now traced by the ring road. Within it lie Marienplatz, the Residenz, the Hofbräuhaus, and virtually every landmark that defines the city's identity.

The Glockenbachviertel is Munich's most diverse and alternative neighbourhood, centred around Müllerstraße and the Gärtnerplatz theatre. It's the heart of the city's LGBTQ+ scene and home to some of Munich's best independent restaurants, bars, and vintage shops.
