Tibet-Butler Nature Preserve

Overview

Tibet-Butler Nature Preserve is a 440-acre conservation area on the western edge of Orlando, offering pine flatwoods, cypress swamps, and scrub habitats. Three hiking trails of varying lengths wind through the preserve.

Highlights

• Palmetto Trail: Easy 1.4-mile loop through saw palmetto and longleaf pine.

History

The preserve was established in 1990 by Orange County to protect one of the last remaining natural areas near the tourist corridor. It is managed as a passive recreation and conservation site.

Visitor Tips

• Tip 1: Trails are sandy — wear sturdy shoes, especially after rain.
• Tip 2: No bikes or pets are allowed in the preserve.
• Duration: 1–2 hours.
