Radnor Lake State Natural Area is a 1,368-acre protected sanctuary surrounding an 85-acre lake in the Overton Hills, just seven miles south of downtown. Designated a Class II Natural Area, it prohibits jogging, cycling, and pets on most trails to preserve its ecology.
The Louisville & Nashville Railroad created the lake in 1914 as a water supply for its steam locomotives. After the railroad era, the state acquired the land in 1973 to protect it from development.
