The Mount Evans Scenic Byway is the highest paved road in North America, climbing to 4,307 meters at the summit of Mount Evans. The 45-km drive from Idaho Springs passes through five life zones, from montane forest to alpine tundra.
The road was completed in 1930 and has been attracting visitors to the summit ever since. In 2023, the mountain was officially renamed Mount Blue Sky at the request of the Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes, though the byway retains its original name.
