Quincy Market is a historic granite market building at the center of Faneuil Hall Marketplace, operating as a food hall and gathering place since 1826. The 535-foot-long colonnade houses dozens of food vendors serving Boston's culinary classics under a soaring domed rotunda.
Built in 1824-26 by architect Alexander Parris at the direction of Mayor Josiah Quincy, the market was a pioneering example of urban commercial architecture. It was the largest enclosed marketplace in the US at the time. The Faneuil Hall Marketplace redevelopment in 1976 became a national model for festival marketplaces.
