Overview
Consistently ranked among Mexico's best beaches, Playa Norte on Isla Mujeres offers crystal-clear, ankle-deep turquoise water that extends far from shore. The short 20-minute ferry ride from Cancún makes it an easy day trip.
Highlights
- Shallow Turquoise Water: Wade 50 metres out and the water remains waist-deep — perfect for families.

- Beach Bars: Palapa-covered bars serve fresh ceviche and micheladas right on the sand.
History
Isla Mujeres (Island of Women) was named by Spanish explorers who found Maya goddess figurines on the shore. Playa Norte has been the island's primary beach since long before tourism arrived in the 1970s.
