Overview
The birthplace of Giacomo Puccini (1858–1924), one of opera's greatest composers, has been converted into an intimate house-museum. The rooms display original furniture, manuscripts, the Steinway piano on which Puccini composed Turandot, personal letters, and costumes from historic productions.
Highlights
- The Steinway Piano: The instrument on which Puccini composed his final (unfinished) opera, Turandot, is the museum's centrepiece.
- Manuscripts and Letters: Handwritten score pages and correspondence with librettists reveal the creative process.
- Period Rooms: The modest bourgeois apartment is preserved much as it would have appeared in the mid-19th century.
