Gyeongju World

Overview

Gyeongju World is a theme park and water park complex in the Bomun Tourist Complex, offering roller coasters, spinning rides, and seasonal water attractions. While not on the scale of Korea's major theme parks, it provides a fun contrast to a day of temple-hopping and appeals especially to families and younger visitors.

Highlights

• Draken Coaster: A steel roller coaster with a Viking longship theme, featuring inversions and a 25-metre drop.
• California Beach Water Park: A summer-only section with wave pools, water slides, and a lazy river.
• Night Rides: The park stays open into the evening during peak season, with rides lit up against the Bomun Lake backdrop.

History

Opened in 1985 as Bomun Land, the park has been renovated and expanded several times, most recently in 2016 when the water park section was overhauled. It remains the only full-scale amusement park in the Gyeongsang region outside of Busan.

Visitor Tips

• Tickets: All-day ride passes are available; water park access is a separate ticket in summer.
• Weekdays: Significantly shorter queue times compared to weekends and Korean holidays.
• Duration: 3–4 hours.
