National Design Centre

Overview

The National Design Centre (NDC) is a hub for design and innovation housed in a cluster of restored convent buildings on Middle Road. Run by the DesignSingapore Council, it hosts free exhibitions on Southeast Asian design, architecture, and sustainability, alongside workshops and coworking spaces.

History

The complex originally housed the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus (CHIJ) schools. After the schools relocated, the buildings were restored and reopened in 2014 as the National Design Centre — Singapore's focal point for design policy and discourse.

• Check the events calendar: The NDC runs regular free workshops on design thinking and sustainability.
• Combine with Kampong Glam: The centre is a 5-minute walk from Arab Street.
