Overview

Prithvi Theatre is an intimate 200-seat theatre in Juhu, one of India's most important venues for Hindi and Marathi drama. Founded by the Kapoor acting dynasty, it hosts plays, poetry readings, and experimental performances with ticketed shows nearly every evening.

History

Founded in 1978 by Shashi and Jennifer Kapoor (parents of actors Kunal and Kareena Kapoor) to preserve Hindi theatre amid Bollywood's dominance. It was modelled on intimate London fringe theatres.
