The Tugu Tani (Farmer's Monument) is a bronze sculpture of a youth wrestling a rearing horse on Jalan Menteng Raya, symbolising the spirit of nation-building. It's one of Jakarta's most recognisable roadside landmarks.
Created by Soviet-Russian sculptor Matvey Manizer and inaugurated in 1963 as a gift from the Soviet Union to Indonesia, the statue reflects the Cold War-era alliance between the two nations during the Sukarno presidency.
