Cua Dai Beach lies at the point where the Thu Bon River meets the South China Sea, about 5 km from the Ancient Town. Once Hoi An's premier beach, it has been affected by erosion but still offers a quieter alternative to An Bang with its wide sand flats and river views.
Cua Dai was for centuries the actual port of Hoi An, where ocean-going sailing ships would anchor before being towed upriver to the town. Significant coastal erosion since the 2010s has reshaped the beach, prompting protective measures.
