The Son Tra Peninsula (Monkey Mountain) is a 4,400-hectare nature reserve jutting into the East Sea, home to the endangered red-shanked douc langur — one of the world's most colorful primates. Winding roads climb through dense jungle to stunning coastal viewpoints.
Used as a US military radar station during the Vietnam War ("Monkey Mountain"), the peninsula was designated a nature reserve in 1977 to protect its unique biodiversity. It is one of the last habitats of the douc langur.
