The Tashkent Botanical Garden is a 66-hectare green sanctuary in the north of the city, home to over 4,500 plant species collected from across Central Asia, the Mediterranean, and subtropical regions.
Established in 1943 during World War II as a research institution of the Uzbek Academy of Sciences, the garden was designed to study Central Asia's botanical diversity. Despite funding difficulties in the post-Soviet period, it has been revitalized with new planting programs and improved visitor facilities.
