Wat Lok Molee

Overview

Wat Lok Molee is a serene temple just north of the Old City moat, distinguished by its impressive Lanna-era brick chedi and a 500-year-old main hall. It is far less touristed than the Old City's flagship temples, offering an atmospheric and unhurried visit.

History

Founded in the 14th century, Wat Lok Molee was patronised by several Lanna kings. The name may derive from "Lok Mauli" (crown of the world), reflecting its royal connections. The main structures were restored in the early 20th century.

• Combine: Just a short walk from Wat Chiang Man and the northern Old City walls.
