The Riverside quarter along Charoen Rat Road follows the west bank of the Ping River south of Warorot Market. It's a atmospheric strip of colonial-era shophouses, riverside restaurants, and converted warehouse venues that quietly rivals Nimman for evening ambience.
This stretch of the Ping was Chiang Mai's original commercial artery, where teak logs floated downriver to Bangkok and Chinese merchants operated trading houses. The neighbourhood declined in the late 20th century before a revival brought bars, restaurants, and boutique hotels.
