Buak Hat Park

Overview

Buak Hat Park is a compact urban oasis at the southwest corner of the Old City moat, shaded by mature trees and favoured by joggers, tai chi practitioners, and families. During the annual Flower Festival in February, the park hosts a spectacular floral display.

History

Once part of the Old City's defensive ramparts, the corner was converted into a public park in the mid-20th century. The annual Flower Festival has been held here since 1996.

• Best time: Early morning for local atmosphere or during the first weekend of February for the Flower Festival.
• Combine: Walk the moat path east to Chiang Mai Gate Market for a local breakfast.
