Overview
Buak Hat Park is a compact urban oasis at the southwest corner of the Old City moat, shaded by mature trees and favoured by joggers, tai chi practitioners, and families. During the annual Flower Festival in February, the park hosts a spectacular floral display.
Highlights
- Green Retreat: Quiet lawns and mature trees provide a shady respite inside the Old City walls.
- Flower Festival: Each February the park becomes the centrepiece of Chiang Mai's three-day Flower Festival with elaborate floats and displays.
- Exercise Hub: Early mornings bring tai chi groups and aerobics classes.
History
Once part of the Old City's defensive ramparts, the corner was converted into a public park in the mid-20th century. The annual Flower Festival has been held here since 1996.
