Overview

SM Mall of Asia (MOA) is one of the largest shopping malls in Asia, located along the Manila Bay waterfront in Pasay City. With over 600 retail stores, an IMAX theater, an Olympic-size ice rink, and a waterfront promenade, it is as much a leisure destination as a shopping center.

History

Opened on May 21, 2006, SM Mall of Asia was developed by SM Prime Holdings, founded by Henry Sy, the Philippines' wealthiest businessman. With a gross floor area of 407,000 square meters, it was the third-largest mall in the world at the time of its opening.

Visitor Tips

• Tip 1: Allocate at least 2–3 hours; the complex is enormous and easy to get turned around in.
• Tip 2: Visit the bayside at sunset for golden-hour photos, then stay for dinner at Seaside Boulevard.
