Overview
Villa Paloma is one of two sites of the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco (NMNM), housed in a 1913 Belle Époque villa. It focuses on contemporary art with rotating exhibitions that engage with Monaco's cultural and social identity.
Highlights
- Rotating Exhibitions: Major thematic shows change every few months, featuring international contemporary artists.
- Villa Architecture: The restored early 20th-century villa itself is an exhibit, with original tile floors and ornate ironwork.
- Garden Setting: The surrounding Mediterranean garden offers a peaceful contrast to the art inside.
History
Villa Paloma was built in 1913 as a private residence. It was acquired by the Principality and converted into a museum space, opening as part of the NMNM in 2010. The museum was created to give Monaco a dedicated contemporary art institution.
