The Kaysone Phomvihane Memorial Museum is dedicated to the founding father and first leader of the Lao People's Democratic Republic. Located in his former residence compound on the outskirts of Vientiane, the museum documents his life and the Lao revolutionary struggle.
Kaysone Phomvihane (1920–1992) led the Pathet Lao revolutionary movement and served as Prime Minister and later President of the Lao PDR from 1975 until his death. Born to a Vietnamese father and Lao mother, he studied law in Hanoi before dedicating his life to Lao independence. The museum opened after his death in 1992.
