Koktobe TV Tower Viewpoint

Overview

The Koktobe summit area, centred around the TV tower, offers a wide panoramic viewpoint encompassing the entire Almaty basin and the Tien Shan mountain wall to the south. On clear days, the 7,010-metre Khan Tengri peak is visible to the east.

• Sunset timing: The sun sets behind the mountains from this vantage, colouring the city in golden light.

History

The viewpoint has been frequented since the Soviet era, when the TV tower made the hilltop accessible. Modern improvements have added terraces, benches, and photo-opportunity installations.
