Saryeoni Forest Road is a tranquil 15-km forest trail through centuries-old Japanese cedar (sugi) and cypress trees on Hallasan's eastern mid-slopes. The flat, well-maintained path is one of Jeju's most peaceful walking experiences, enveloped in birdsong and dappled light filtered through the cathedral-like canopy.
The forest was originally planted as a commercial timber plantation during the Japanese colonial period (1910–1945) and later maintained by the Korean Forest Service. In recent years, tourism authorities recognized its value as a walking destination and developed the maintained trail. It has since become one of Jeju's most popular nature walks.
